Arsenal clinch £170m puma kit deal
ARSENAL have landed a whopping kit deal with Puma worth £170m.
Arsene Wenger’s side spent the last 20 years wearing Nike shirts. But Gunners chief executive Ivan Gazidis has sealed a new deal netting the club over £30m a year for five years.
Arsenal’s current deal with Nike — worth £55m over seven years — expires at the end of next season. The club have been tied down to long-term sponsorship deals since moving into the Emirates in 2006.
But they are now looking forward to capitalise on various new deals. Nike had first refusal on negotiating a new deal but decided not to renew.
Boss Arsene Wenger has been forced to limit his spending since the club moved from their old Highbury.
But Gunners fans — who have seen their club go eight seasons without a trophy — hope they can finally start to compete with big-spenders Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea armed with sponsors’ cash.
