You're still in our thought Petv
ASTON VILLA fans want to turn their team’s final match of the season into ‘Stiliyan Petrov day’.
Villa face fellow strugglers Wigan at the DW Stadium in the May 19 game and plan to pay tribute to their captain, who was diagnosed with acute leukaemia last March.
Fans are urged to wear Villa, Celtic or Bulgaria shirts to honour the midfielder, now in remission.
All season, supporters have applauded the Bulgarian in the 19th minute — a reference to his squad number — and the 3,000 travelling Villa fans plan to display banners bearing the words ‘Petrov 19’.
Today's Premier League gossip column
David Moyes will be named Manchester United manager after being handpicked by Sir Alex Ferguson himself.
The Everton boss has been given a five-year contract to succeed Sir Alex and will include former United player Phil Neville on his staff.
An astonishing day at United took an incredible twist late as it emerged Wayne Rooney has asked to leave Old Trafford at a time when the club are close to securing the return of Cristiano Ronaldo.
Rooney told Ferguson two weeks ago that he wants a fresh start.
David Beckham pays tribute to Ferguson
DAVID BECKHAM has paid a glowing tribute to his former boss and Alex Ferguson, who he describes as a 'father figure'.
Fergie — who announced his retirement today — played a huge role in developing the midfielder’s career before his switch to Real Madrid.

JT denied by David Bernstein
JOHN TERRY will NOT be considered for England again unless he OFFICIALLY comes out of retirement.
That was the message from FA chairman David Bernstein after Terry made it known he might go back on his decision to quit the Three Lions. Terry quit after being stripped of the captaincy and given a four-game ban for racially abusing QPR’s Anton Ferdinand.

Nev to Phil Moyes
PHIL NEVILLE will be in the frame to fill David Moyes’ boots as Everton boss — if he does not follow him to Old Trafford.
But should chairman Bill Kenwright look outside Goodison Park, Swansea gaffer Michael Laudrup will be a leading candidate.
Top 10 Premier League flop transfer of the season
MANCHESTER UNITED’S sensational £22million swoop for Robin van Persie played a massive role in taking the Premier League title back to Old Trafford.
But other clubs have been less successful in their dealings — with Manchester City’s bid to defend their crown undermined by some shoddy signings.
And big-spenders QPR failed to avoid the plunge despite splashing the cash on a raft of new players.
Here SunSport has picked out 10 transfer flops of this season, who set back their clubs over £70million on fees alone.
1. Christopher Samba — Anzhi to QPR (£12.5m)
Worse night for Gunners
ARSENAL have had worse nights.
True, it would have been better had Chelsea not conceded an equaliser 10 minutes from the end.
But a draw will suit the Gunners well enough. Two wins against Wigan (h) and Newcastle (a) and it’s game over and Champions League football for the 16th consecutive season.
It had long been a night earmarked as the one that could decide Tottenham’s destiny. And so it could have proved with Andre Villas-Boas now having to rely on Arsenal’s fallibility — not totally out of the question given some of their recent displays — if Spurs are not to end up fifth.
Sir Alex Ferguson : Give my job to Moyes
ALEX FERGUSON wants David Moyes to succeed him as manager of Manchester United.
And he is backed by a host of Old Trafford legends who are calling for the Everton boss to take over.
United were in turmoil last night after Fergie’s shock decision to retire, as predicted in yesterday’s Sun.
He has urged his board to move for fellow Scot Moyes, 50, who held emergency talks in London with Everton supremo Bill Kenwright. Chairman Kenwright last night insisted no deal was in place and that Moyes would be in charge for the Toffees’ home game against West Ham on Sunday.
